Artist Statement 

 

My work explores the interplay between light, space, and the expressive qualities of paint. Guided by unconscious observations and the quiet influences of my surroundings, I translate the shifting rhythms of nature and the elements into abstract, atmospheric landscapes.

Colour is central to this process—working as both emotion and structure. Its vibrancy, softness, and transitions become a language through which I interpret the subtleties of the natural world. Light moves through these colours as an active presence, shaping spaces that hover between interior and exterior experience.

Each painting becomes a dialogue between perception and sensation, blurring the boundaries between reality and imagination. Through these immersive mind-scapes, I invite viewers into moments of wonder and contemplation, revealing the fluid connections between nature, emotion, and the shifting landscapes within us.

 

Biography 

 

I am an artist based in Greyabbey, Co. Down, specializing in Fine Art. I graduated from Manchester School of Art with first-class honours in 2022, where I was awarded the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts (MAFA) Painting Award. Since then, I have become an associate member of MAFA and have completed three solo exhibitions: at the Katie Lindsay Gallery (2022) and Arts for All, Belfast (2023, 2024), alongside participating in various group shows.

I am currently undertaking a self-led residency at Ballywalter Park, where I am exploring new themes and techniques inspired by the estate’s rich history and surroundings. This residency is providing me with the freedom to experiment and further develop my artistic practice in a unique and inspiring environment.
