About

About

I am an abstract painter based in Greyabbey, County Down.

My work explores light, colour and atmosphere through paint. Rather than trying to represent a particular place, I make paintings that are shaped by my experience of the natural world and the quiet observations I absorb over time.

I work with acrylic paint, inks, oil pastel and chalk, building up surfaces through layers, scraping back, repainting and allowing images to emerge gradually. I rarely begin with a fixed idea of how a painting will look. Instead, I respond to what happens on the surface, letting the process guide the direction of the work.

Although landscape influences my paintings, they are not intended to depict specific locations. I'm more interested in capturing a feeling than a view. Changes in light, weather and the seasons often find their way into the work, even if they're not immediately recognisable.

I graduated with First-Class Honours in Fine Art from Manchester School of Art in 2022, where I received the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts (MAFA) Painting Award. I am now a member of MAFA.

I work from my studio at Ballywalter Park in County Down, where I continue to develop new paintings and experiment with different ways of working.
